My experience here was somewhat atypical considering I’ve only been for a private event. That said, most everything they served was off of their menu, so my review should be somewhat accurate.

Starting with the drinks, Back Forty served up some perfect tens. Just awesome, inventive twists on classics. Some margarita inspired, some mojito inspired and others just really-ass-good inspired. Pulling in a host of tricks using ginger beer, muddled strawberries and dare I say love.

As for the food, it was solid good. Nothing exceedingly memorable however, with the one exception being the pork belly fritters- I popped so many of these in my mouth hole it was like I was channeling my inner Harvey Weinstein.

And then there’s dessert. Which are all very good and everything, but let’s cut to the chase. It’s not all about that bass. It’s about the DONUTS!!! (to be read with Homer Simpson inflection). Had I not gone all Jabba on the pork fritters I would’ve easily pounded a half dozen of these suckers.

In other news, staff is friendly, decor is quaint and intimate and I probably should go back under normal circumstances before considering this an accurate review, but since I have no idea when that might be…

Not just the best restaurant in all of Disney, one of the best in Orlando. This place brings it in every single way. Nice décor. Great service. Great presentations. Fantastic food. If you truly want fine dining (yes, at Disney)- this is your place.

My only nits, and there aren’t many, were the wait, even though we had a reservation, and the fact that they sat us by the wait station (the third time in a row at a Disney restaurant- WTF?!?).

But beyond that, our waiter was a real pro. Quick. Spot on with his recommendations. Attentive to the kids. He literally made me forget about whatever I was bitching about before. Either that or it was the mussels app- WOW!!! So good. So fresh. And fresh is really the theme here- all of the fish is incredibly so, and impeccably prepared to order.

The salmon entrée was literally the best I’ve ever had. Such a complex layering of flavors and textures- including mustard, which admittedly I am a sucker for.

The tuna entrée my wife had was also quite good. The only miss, and by miss I mean “just okay,” certainly not bad, was the scallops and risotto. Skip it. It sounds better than it is, and it was our only stray from the waiter’s recos.

Wine was also a fantastic complement. We had the white Chateauneuf du Pape.

And for dessert, both the chocolate thing and the bread pudding were superb. But being that I am partial to bread pudding, I found myself gobbling it down like Jabba to a frog.

Now I know some of you might still be skeptical of a Disney restaurant being this excellent, but take it from a hardcore NYC foodie, this place is the real deal.

Rocket Pig

If I were a pig and took a bite of this sandwich, I think I would have to keep chewing- full knowing that it is in fact pig that I’m eating. That’s how good it is.

So why not 5 stars? Well, I didn’t actually go here. Someone else picked up take out for me. So I am reserving judgment on decor and service until I return, which will happen as soon as my arteries forgive me.

As for the desserts, they are pretty sick as well. The bacon caramels are so rich I couldn’t decide if I was experiencing bliss or disgust. The brownie is a solid good. But the belles of the ball for me were the hazelnut cream cookies.

And yes, I feel like Jabba the Hutt right now.
